Normally there are no special tools needed

The major differences are - some cars with an automatic tensioner which is a little more to handle (mine is); most cars, for cost reason, are using tension tightenner, basically with all mechanical tightenning bolts. The latter is much easier to work on, but it requires periodically adjustment.
