You don't need another charger to charge NOCO GB40. It comes with an USB cable which you can connect to any USB source, including USB in your car to charge GB40 (one full charge can jump start up to 6 cars - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKVH0CcWeMo&t=711s  )

It has been many years but still works great (keep charging for many months). My current SUV has dual battery but I still keep the NOCO GB40 in my vehicle in case needed or sometimes for helping others (I don't like to connect my battery to jump start other's cars).

BMS = Battery Management System, which can prevent it from being short/incorrect connection, etc.
