纸莎草或古滕堡都是纠缠，前者不是真正意义的纸、现代的纸源于纸浆技术，而它源于中国；后者是对活字印刷的革命性进步，但最早发明泥字和木字预制及排版的技术也是源自中国，后来又有了铜字，再后来是古滕堡的铅字，它被证明最容易、成本最低，但这个是革命性进步而不是发明。
