-You can leave US and stay in China during the I-131 pending, but had better not stay in China for more than one year before the I-131 approval in case USCIS may deny your I-131 reentry permit thorugh the chance of denial is very small.
Of course, if your I-131 is approved when you stay in China, your fine to continue to stay there even if you have been in China for more than one year before the I-131 is approved..
