请问 8 老师一个问题。我儿子是加拿大公民，在2023 年5月离开美国到中国，2023年6月获得绿卡（美国律师把绿卡寄到中国）；因此他未能在离开美国前申请reentry permit（USCIS 规定申请reentry permit时，申请人必须持有绿卡和人在美国）。因为健康原因，他一直留在中国至今，并计划秋季返回美国。因为他离开美国时不是绿卡身份，又不符合申请USCIS 官网上的Returning Resident Visas的第一个条件（Step 1 - Qualifying for Returning Resident Status）。请问 8 老师，我儿子计划今年秋季回美国，他应该通过什么程序或申请什么Permit 或 visa才能保留他的绿卡身份？多谢！
