If your I-485 has been pending for more than 180 days, you need to find a new job in the same field as the old job to keep your I-485 valid, i.e., you do not need to start your green card application all over again, but your new employer needs to provide I-485 Supplement J when you are interview (USCIS may ask you to provide this form before they make the inerview appointment). You only need to find a new job in the same field, not need to be the same job or the same job responsibilities as the old job.
