香頌（法語：Chanson）意為歌曲，源自於拉丁文 Cantio，源於中世紀的法國，是法國世俗歌曲的泛稱，專業的香頌歌手稱為「Chanteur」（男）或「Chanteuse」（女）。

「香頌」（Chanson）是法國世俗歌曲（流行歌曲）的泛稱，而法文中「Chanson」的原意，其實很單純，指的就是「歌曲」。

香頌的歌詞內容通常具故事性，詞意描寫十分講究。最早留有樂譜的香頌出現在11世紀的法國，隨後陸續出現涵蓋了宮廷生活、騎士道精神與政治等相關內容的歌曲，到了15世紀後，香頌則以歌頌愛情居多。

今日在法國，香頌往往指的是像雅克·布雷爾（Jacques Romain Georges Brel, 1929-1978）、艾迪特·皮雅芙（Edith Piaf, 1915-1963）等著名歌手的作品。

有別於其他法國流行音樂，香頌的歌唱與語法更加按照法語的節奏，而非英語的節奏，因此被認為非常～「法國」。

此外，香頌的歌詞也特別講究韻味和意境。
