"beautiful" in the language of seafaring Portuguese.
Today the beauty of Taiwan is not in name but in essence.
Beautifully, Taiwan is a shining example of realpolitik
in Bismarckian sense, which is meant to take advantage of
the balance of power. The DPP is strong on realpolitik
but weak in social policy. Just a thought.
I don't pay much attention to the details of politics in
Taiwan. But most importantly -- Democracy is totally
possible, feasible and practicable in Chinese culture.
