APAD: Fat Chance

Fat Chance

Although "chance" can be a name, but "fat chance" ain't a fat person. 嘻嘻

It's an idiom used to informally (mainly spoken) express disbelief or skepticism that something will happen, like "no way" or "there's little or no chance".

If you say that there's a fat chance of something happening, you mean that you do not believe that it will happen.

One funny made-up example: Maowi the cat just won the lottery, but there's a fat chance he'll share the winnings with me. 呵呵

So "fat change" is slimmer than "slim chance", and there's a fat chance Canada will become anyone's 51th state, regardless who will be our next Prime Minister after the federal election on April 28th.

Hope you like this short phrase and have a "good chance" to use it.

Cheers to All!
