APAD: It is more blessed to give than to receive

"It is more blessed to give than to receive" means that experiencing the joy, fulfillment, and spiritual growth from helping others is a deeper, more rewarding experience than the temporary pleasure of receiving things. It  fosters happiness, connection. This principle, rooted in the Bible (Acts 20:35), suggests true well-being comes from generosity, not selfishness.  Its principle is also found in other traditions like Islam (the giving hand is better than the taking hand).

Helping the needed and the weak, ain't just about money; giving time, encouragement, or a kind word are all acts of giving.  It's a call to generosity, reminding us to share our blessings rather than hoarding them.

Xmas season is approaching.  Received an email from local women's shelter last Tuesday that they have a donation matching Challenge fundraising campaign: every donation dollar will be matched one for one until $10K.  So I responded right away (see pic below).

This is one of the few local causes I care about and donate to every year.  

I do this not because I'm rich (actually we left work very early - the total age between hubby and I together was 100 at the time, we have been living a simple life solely on our own savings and investments since, without any pensions/benefits), but it's a must for me.  

When I came to this land with only $100US in my pocket, it was the generosity of others that helped me to survive here, so now it's my time and duty to pay back, or pay it forward.

Please believe me, I truly feel "It is more blessed to give than to receive" from the bottom of my heart.

Also I feel very blessed for my APAD co-hosts and all who come here to support us.  I'm on the receiving end of your kindness and generosity.
