APAD: A fault confessed is half redressed

Meaning:
If one has done something wrong and admits it, he/she has gone a long way towards putting things right again. By acknowledging your mistakes or wrongdoings, you have taken the first step towards making amends and reconciling with those you have wronged.

The proverb emphasizes the importance of admitting one’s mistakes and taking responsibility for them in order to begin the process of making things right.

It originated from a saying recorded from the mid-17th century, which was attributed to the Irish statesman and philosopher Edmund Burke.

There isn't a perfect person in this world, everyone, even Saint or "God", makes mistakes.

My upbringing taught me to admit my own fault when I see it.  Dad said it would make one stronger rather than weaker: "You want to be a good person, that's the way to go."

So yesterday when I was reading a post in 投坛, suddenly realized one mistake I made in WXC about two years ago, I apologized publicly to the person right away. 

I still don't and can't agree with his opinion, but that's ain't and shouldn't be an excuse to ignore my own mistake.

And it's a such a relief and blessing when he accepted my apology.  "A fault confessed is half redressed", and 君子应该和而不同。
