5 year return of 401k

the first time to check my 401k balance, went through some bad years before understanding my own needs

1st 5Y -13% started aggreesive then through the  depression

2nd 5Y 30% only invested moderate percentage and frequent trading 

3rd 5Y 64% invested a little bit more than half of the total asset but  did not do much trading

4th 5Y 129% 100% in the market and very aggressive in a stock.

Total 751%

did not check how 401k return was calculated (weighted by time or asset or whatever)

felt fortunate that I lost or trailed SPY when i had the least amount of money.
