The last sentence confused me...

Al said "No—actually, I wanted to ask you if you knew where I left the remote control for the TV—I haven’t been able to find it for weeks."

I guess it implies that AL have't been watching TV for weeks, so the grounds Beth broke up with him does not stand any more...

Also wondering why Beth said "It figures" at the last sentence.
