What a Survivor Says

As a 3-time blood cancer survivor, regular exercise, before, during and after cancer treatments, has allowed me to breeze through four tough chemo protocols in three years, including a bone marrow transplant, with relative ease. Recovery after treatment is much quicker, allowing me to train enough to do several 100+ mile bike rides in the summers following treatment every year. Regular exercise also wards off depression, cancer related fatigue, treatment induced weight gain, and results in better sleep and healthier eating patterns. It increases blood counts, blood oxygen levels, and strengthens the immune system, heart and lungs. Find an exercise you enjoy doing, stick with it diligently, increase your level slowly as you progress and get stronger, and look forward to a brighter, healthier future!
