约翰福音第十二章第23—24节，耶稣说“人子得荣耀的时候到了”，也就是耶稣知道自己为了拯救罪人就要被钉死在十字架上了替罪人受惩罚；耶稣接着说“一粒麦子不落在地里死了仍旧是一粒，若是死了就结出许多子粒来”，耶稣的意思是他的死会叫许多人得救进天国得永生，人所需要做的就是相信耶稣，接受耶稣的救赎，在神的爱里结果子。这正是神爱世界，甚至将他的独生子赐给他们。

约12:23 耶稣说、人子得荣耀的时候到了。
Jesus answered them, "The time has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.
约12:24 我实实在在的告诉你们、一粒麦子不落在地里死了、仍旧是一粒．若是死了、就结出许多子粒来。
Most certainly I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains by itself alone. But if it dies, it bears much fruit.
约3:16 神爱世人、甚至将他的独生子赐给他们、叫一切信他的、不至灭亡、反得永生。
For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
