Claire Huangci (born March 1990) is an American classical pianist. Claire was born in Rochester, New York to Chinese parents. Her parents are both scientists. Claire received a grand piano as a gift for her 6th birthday. She initially studied the instrument with her mother, but enrolled into Settlement Music School of Philadelphia when she was 7. In the same year, she was featured on FOX news as a child prodigy with "the skills of a professional pianist."


Education:


Claire is supported with scholarships from DAAD as well as Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben for the past two years. Having completed four years of study at The Curtis Institute of Music, Claire is continuing her music education in Germany at the Hannover Hochschule für Musik under Professor Arie Vardi from October, 2007.


Career:


She won First Prize in the National Chopin Piano Competition in Miami in 2010. She had previously won First Prize in the 2009 Europäischer Chopin Klavierwettbewerb in Darmstadt and the Orpheum Music Prize in Zurich. She has appeared as a soloist with a number of orchestras, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Radio- Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart, the China Philharmonic, the St Petersburg Symphony, the Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Deutsche Streicherphilharmonie, and the Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt. She has also given recitals in Europe ; in Zurich (Tonhalle), Frankfurt (Sendesaal), and Berlin (Konzerthaus) among others, China, Japan, Israel, and the United States (Carnegie Hall). Highlights from the 10-11 season included concerts with the Cannes Orchestre, Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt, Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa, Umea Sinfonieorchester, a tour of Europe with Maestro Howard Griffiths and the Animato Stiftung Orchestra, and recitals in the Lodz Rubinstein Festival, Ravinia Festival, Gstaad Sommets Musicaux, Menuhin Festival Gstaad, Paris Solistes Serres Auteil Festival, Flanders Festival Ghent, Munich Gasteig Winners and Masters Series, Copenhagen Tivoli Hall, Berlin Konzerthaus, and tours in Japan and USA.
