消息人士：拜登坚信自己本可以赢得选举

据美国有线电视新闻网（CNN）当地时间5日报道，尽管美国总统拜登不知道哈里斯和特朗普的这场竞选对决将如何收场，但消息人士表示，他仍坚信一点：那就是他本可以赢得这场选举。
当地时间5日，与拜登关系密切的消息人士表示，鉴于拜登长期在白人工人阶级选民中稳固的好感度，他认为自己本可以拿下那些“蓝墙” 州，而哈里斯的竞选官员现在称拿下这些州只是她获胜的途径之一。
所谓“蓝墙”州，指美国北部靠近五大湖区的宾夕法尼亚、密歇根和威斯康星三州，曾长期为民主党稳定票仓。在2016年总统选举中，特朗普成功将“蓝墙”三州“翻红”，这也是他最终胜选的关键。在2020年总统选举中，拜登以微弱优势夺回三州并最终胜选。
报道称，在2020年的大选中，白人工人阶级选民曾让局势对拜登有利，考虑到该群体在2016年助力特朗普获胜时也起到了关键作用，拜登及其最亲近的顾问们还认为，如果当时是拜登而不是美国前国务卿希拉里作为民主党候选人参选的话，特朗普根本就不会赢得第一个任期，就也不会产生自己能重返白宫的念头。
当被问及拜登是否担心若哈里斯败选，他将此次竞选的走向承担责任时，拜登的一位高级助手表示：“他更担心如果发生这种情况，国家会将面临什么后果。”
