MY APPOINT OF VIEW WITH CBC SERIES INTERVIEWS

Good evening Mr. Joel Dryden (CBC Reporter, Journalist):

Once having seen the best, the rest is not worthwhile looking. The unfortunate death of my wife （my first marriage） and even a series of bad luck followed to me one after another, and I was no longer perseverance. So at that time, I chose to stay away from the drunken fans of the metropolis, show off in noisy, but live in seclusion in a peaceful and quiet small village that may gave rural atmosphere to enjoy my old age of lifestyle, which became my pursuit of indifferent and clear ambition to return to innocence. Never thought of having accidentally stepped into the xenophobia of the small town political isuues. Probably this is my fate.

曾经沧海难为水除却巫山不是云。自我原配太太不幸遇难乃至一系列的厄运接踵而来，我已不再执着。所以当时选择远离大都市的纸醉金迷，喧哗炫耀，隐居于赋予乡村气息的安逸宁静的小乡村安享晚年，便成了我淡泊明志返璞归真的一种追求。未曾想不慎又步尘于市井小民的排外。大概这便是我的命格吧。

Due to the huge difference between Chinese and English, during my struggle to survive overseas, my language is the most disaveantageous, besides of my skin color. Moreover, because I could communicate in English, it constitutes another basis for linguistic discrimination French Quebec. Although I took the oath to become a Canadian citizen in 1991 and have the experience of half a lifetime in the mainland China and half a lifetime in Canada, in the eyes of some people in the mainstream society, it is still difficult for me to become a first-class citizen like the mainstream society. 

由于中文和英语的巨大差异乃至我在海外生存奋斗最吃亏的还是语言，其次是我的肤色。更因为我能够使用英语沟通却构成了在语言上在魁省遭受歧视的另一个依据。尽管我于九一年就宣誓成为加国公民，并有着半世人生在大陆，半世人生在加国的经验，然在主流社会一些人们的眼里我仍然很难成为如主流社会一样的一等公民。

Even if many professionals emigrated after 2000, although they have some written language, their oral expression difficulties make them hard to integrate into the mainstream society. When I came to Canada for the first time, I had neither English nor French. The immigration officer of Canada awarded me an exceptional Visa because of my cuisine skills. I started working as soon as I arrived in Canada, so that I couldn't enter a language school to study language at all. As a result, I had to force myself to try to enter the mainstream society and take every opportunity to learn language by myself. 

即便2000年后大批专业人士移民涌入，虽然他们有点书面语言，但是口语表达困难令他们难以融入主流社会。而初来加国的我是既无英语更无法语，由于当时加国移民官因为我的厨艺而网开一面，所以我一到加国便投入工作，根本无法进入语言学校修读语言，由此我不得不逼迫自己设法进入主流社会工作借机自学语言。

I suffered from xenophobia as soon as I moved to the small town, but at first, I just tolerated it, thinking that, as prosecutors said, if I could survive for three years long, they will let me go; but things were counterproductive. Everyone has a bottom line. Just as not being pushed to a desperate situation and it hasn't broken out yet. In this case, instead of letting them think that most Chinese are cowardly and tolerant, it is better to make them realize that Chinese are also bloody-men, and tolerance does not mean unprincipled tolerance. In other words, life is short, and it is a pleasure to borrow a short life to shine a little light, don't you think? 

其实刚刚移居小镇一来便饱受排外，但开始我还是一味忍让，以为像检察官他们说的，如果我能挺过三年他们就会放过我，然而事与愿违。每个人都有底线，只是没有逼到绝境，尚未爆发而已。既然如此，与其让其以为华人大都都懦弱隐忍，不如借此令其意识到华人也是血性男儿，包容并不代表无原则的一味忍让。换言之，人生苦短，借用短暂的人生发点点光，何尝不是件乐事，你说呢？

Another purpose of participating in the CBC series of interviews is to use this platform to explain the heartfelt words of a flat-headed citizen living at the bottom, hoping to awaken the leadership and decision-makers to place Canada's benefits and prosperity first while to maintain the balance of Canada’s own international status. Canada needs China's market, and China needs Canadian resources. Last year, I participated in a telephone interview with China's Phoenix Satellite TV. Today, I am fortunate enough to use the Canadian mainstream media platform to speak out the heartfelt voice of a Canadian citizen with an immigrant background. 

这次参与CBC系列专访的另一个目的是希望借此平台阐述一个生活在底层的平头市民的肺腑之言，期望·唤醒加国的领导决策层在维护平衡加国自身国际地位的同时以加国百姓的利益为首位。加国需要中国的市场，中国需要加国的资源。去年我曾参与了中国凤凰卫视的电话访谈，今天有幸借助加国主流媒体的平台一吐一个移民背景的加国公民的心声之快。
