Dream of Going Back on New Year's Eve. East Wind
Dream of Going Back on New Year's Eve
New Year's Eve will come and go.
In a wine glass I launch my homing boat.
The morning sun gives clouds a hint of China Red,
in late winter, above the auspicious snow.
He who went overseas returns home.
The couplets are new, the house is old.
Firecrackers are crackling, fireworks are cold.
I go west, east is where you go.
East Wind
Toward the east, I pour out
the mixture of my warm dream and wine,
search for the spring green,
summon the spring wind.
The yellow buds wake up,
turn golden and purple.
The white snow melts,
find its way into greens and flowers.
Take the flowering soul to my hometown,
breeze it as if I were never gone.
Shake the plants outside the window,
so their moonlight shadows wake her up.
Our two worlds are parallel, never met,
but you can visit both, make them
welcome spring at the same time,
know they can be each other's companion.
The earth is changing color.
With your caress, the wheat fields wave.
You have seen that on your way here
when you passed through the ocean.
