A Legendary Canadian Singer

Last November, Gordon Lightfoot resumed his traditional performance at Massey Hall for four nights.
The theater was packed with people. To my surprise, the majority of the audience was middle-aged or over. Some of them brought their children or grandchildren along.
That’s the time I realized this was something different from a pop star concert.
The light was deemed and here he was, walking onto the stage with his four piece band.
Slim build with simple dress, clean, very minimum and low key, exactly the way he was as a person.
He started singing right away after a brief greeting.
        Sundown
        Rainy day people
If you could read my mind
        Carefree highway
With only a guitar, he kept going and going.

“Happy birthday” some one shouted from the audience. Yeah, next day would be his 68th birthday.
“We love you” another one

Although his voice and body were not what they used to be, but the audience just love him, for who he is, what he has achieved.
I looked at this old man on the stage, was totally amazed that at age of 68, after gone through so much physically and emotionally, he could still perform at one of the most prestigious theater in this metropolitan. Without true love and passion towards to his career, I doubt it very much that he could do it.

When I stepped on the street after the concert, I noticed that the city was still very busy and crowded. This is a city with such a rich night life. People enjoy it in their own way, regardless their age.
I wish I could have the opportunity to enjoy this with my special someone, my child, my grand child in all the years to come.
