　　其中年纪最大的白娜戴特，在自己的脸上已经看到再多的粉也掩饰不住的岁月痕迹，深觉岁月不饶人，加上老友的骤逝，深深的忧鬱紧捉著他。有天，他们有一个新的工作机会，待遇不错，唯一的缺点就是他们必须离开雪梨，大老远的跑到沙漠的另一端表演。他们没有办法负担庞大的运费，索性开著他们那辆紫色的车屋，横渡沙漠……
　　旅途是艰辛的，无垠的沙漠，炎炎高阳，没事时，穿上戏服放著他们最爱的阿巴的歌，一边想著演出方式，一边唱唱跳跳自娱……而他们明显的特别性倾向，有人不以为然，有人视而不见，却也碰到不少排拒同性恋的人，碰到这种情形时，他们有人觉得非常愤慨，也有宁可息事宁人……倒是白娜戴特在这趟行程里体悟不少人生的道理……
　　《沙漠妖姬》不是单纯的探讨同性恋，也不只是表现音乐和服装的美，透过同志变装秀的演艺生涯对照一般百姓，也透过一般百性对他们的另眼看待，看到他们面对人生不同的态度，剧中甚至有许多对白都意义深远。演员、摄影和服装设计都非常杰出。由於导演本身就是阿巴合唱团的歌迷，他选用不少阿巴的音乐，也因此原声带，对喜爱这部电影或阿巴歌迷来说，十分值得珍藏。
