我的减肥 -- 抛(my)砖引(your)玉

Thank some people for encouraging me to post my experience on weight control. I would like to share it with you for 抛砖引玉.

I feel so great and my skin looks healthy and beautiful after losing 10 pounds in 9 months (and it has not gained back). My tummy is almost flat. Now I don't feel tiring any more. Life is so beautiful!

In 2008, I was not fat or slim, but I did notice my stomach and 下腹 slowly growing bigger. My daughter was becoming chubby. She had been slim (25% - 35%) and always has good appetizers. In March 2009, I decided to 减肥 for myself and for her. I want to convey to her that if I can do it, she can easily do it too…

My goal is to gradually reduce weight to some degree then stay fit while being healthier and increasing metabolism. I committed to take time as long as it needs. I think it is on-going process. I believe in life style changes including balanced diet and some exercises to gradually reduce weight.

Who was I:
1. A lazy person, don’t like gyms and can't do exercise every day.
2. Like outdoors, gardening and no time for TVs.
3. Like home-cooking food, have relative good eating habits
4. Don’t like any drinks. If I have to pick something for drink, I take beers and teas.
5. Light (none) breakfast, late dinners
6. Oily and rich meals
7. Had not cooked for 4 years. (Had home-cooking food though).
8. Willingness to adjust and adapt.

What I did:
1. First thing in the morning, drink some kind of nutrition water, or warm honey water or plain warm water.
2. After a while, have a good breakfast.
3. Bring lunch from previous dinner.
4. Drink plenty of water during the day including 2 cups of green tea. No water after 8pm.
5. Cook dinner myself. Have soup before meal whenever possible. Try to eat less a little bit at least for dinner. No meals after dinner.
6. The principle is less oil, less salt, to gradually reduce rice and flour taking. Add apple, lots of fruits, nuts, 豆制品...
7. Started to use my九阳豆浆机 I bought one year ago. Drink 豆浆 without filtering every week.
8. Research, practice, improve healthy recipes.
9. You can gradually reduce your taking. There are some foods which make you less hungry.

What I cook:
1. Soup: handful organic chicken (cut small) / eggs / fish balls / dry shrimp, all kinds of carrots (cut small), quinoa, dry old corn (small cut), potatoes (cut small), squash / pumpkin, cucumber, 青菜 and etc.. Organic chicken broth, Organic chicken thigh, Organic whole chicken bought from Costco.
2. Steam cut organic chicken with egg plant, squash / pumpkin, broccoli and etc.. 冬瓜, 丝瓜
3. Pan Fry chicken with cauliflower, tomatoes, onion......
4. Pan Fray (white) carrots, potato and 干丝
5. Cucumber in raw with garlic and seseme oil...
6. Take local and fresh vegetibles / fruits as much possible and organic ones if possible. Please see http://www.foodnews.org/

I don't like to eat out often. But when I go out, I don't control my taking at all. Only just eat 90%-100% full. Usually at home, I only eat 70% full at most. But I did find some noticeable changes: I don't enjoy some unhealthy food such as pork that much any more...

Everyone is different. Everyone can find a way to take control. All you need are determinations, a good feasible plan and execution, an open mind and don’t rush. And be thankful to yourself.
