8 圣灰节(ASH WENESDAY)以及四旬期(LENT)

昨天是圣灰节 , 四旬期的第一天 . 我两年前开始守四旬期 , 今年更郑重一些 . 因懂得守四旬期的意义 , 是为 :

* 学习自律 , 把自己的心和灵从物质享受里解放出来 - Teach ourselves self-control and to free our minds and hearts from material things;

* 提醒我们耶稣所受的苦 , 以及我们作为他的跟随者真正快乐所在 - Remind us of Christ’s sufferings and where our true pleasures are as His followers;

* 为我们所做的错事表示悔改 - Show repentance for our wrongdoings.

今年我决定在这四十天里 , 放弃所有享受性的饮食 , 荤食只吃需要的最小量 , 食物也尽量少 . 业余时间除了锻炼之外用来读经 , 读神学书 , 和祷告 ; 电影 , 电视 , 其他书籍和其他享受基本都停掉 .

前两年 , 我放弃巧克力和蛋糕 , 觉得挺难的 , 有几次籍聚会 , 或怕浪费的借口还是吃了 , 当时也不是太当真 , 注意力在不吃上 , 并没有精神上的追求 . 今年我会对自己严格一些 , 因为和神的亲近 , 想起来应该不会很难 . 愿神给我力量 . 也希望经过这样的斋戒 , 自律 , 仰望 , 赞美 , 信靠 , 祷告 , 能和神更亲近 , 也得蒙他的指引 , 有更多体会 .

明天 ( 周五 ) 我所在教会有通夜的祷告赞美 (All Night Concert of Prayer), 时间是 9:30pm-6am, 我也会去尝试 , 准备待到午夜 , 感受众人一起全身心祷告赞美的情形 .

求神帮助我 .

Ash Wednesday, in the calendar of Western Christianity, is the first day of Lent and occurs 46 days before Easter. It is a moveable fast, falling on a different date each year because it is dependent on the date of Easter. It can occur as early as February 4 or as late as March 10.

According to the Canonical gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke, Jesus spent forty days fasting in the desert before the beginning of his public ministry, during which he endured temptation by Satan.[1][2] Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of this forty day liturgical period of prayer and fasting.

Ash Wednesday derives its name from the practice of placing ashes on the foreheads of adherents as a sign of mourning and repentance to God. The ashes used are typically gathered after the palms from the previous year's Palm Sunday are burned.[3] 

This practice is common in much of Christendom, being celebrated by Catholics, Episcopalians, Lutherans, Methodists, Presbyterians, and Anglicans.

大齋期（亦稱大齋節期； 天主教會 稱四旬期； 基督新教 信義宗 稱預苦期），是 基督宗教 的教會年曆一個節期。英文寫作 Lent ，意即 春天 。拉丁教會稱 Quadragesima ，意即四十天（四旬）。

大齋期由 大齋首日 ( 聖灰星期三 / 塗灰日 ) 開始至 復活節前日 止，一共四十天（不計六個主日）。基督徒以齋戒、施捨、克苦等方式補賠自己的罪惡，準備慶祝 耶穌基督 的由 死刑 復活的「逾越奧蹟」。

四十日的時間起源於耶穌在 洗者若翰 受洗後，到荒野 禁食 並三退 魔鬼 以食物、權勢與對 天主 的信賴的試探。
